Obituary for Walter S. Klein

On March 16, 2021, Walter S. Klein passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was a very loving and caring husband and father who lived a fulfilling life. On June 9, 1932 he was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. After graduating from Pawling High School, he joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country for 4 years as a metalsmith on LST 938. He attended aviation school becoming a professional commercial pilot and enthusiast, flying turbo props such as a DC-3 and Super Convairs for Allegany Airlines and others. On July 30, 1960 he married the love of his life, Jenette. Walter then worked for Mutual of Omaha as a salesman and sales instructor. He then started and maintained a very successful real estate & timber brokerage company which he continued until his retirement. Walter proudly lived on his farm in Stormville NY for over 50 years where he loved to deer hunt, raise pheasants, and engage in projects with family members. He also enjoyed being with his sons on the farm, teaching them many valuable lessons and was also was a sponsor and manager for The Town of Beekman Little League. Walter also graciously dedicated his time to the Town of Beekman serving on multiple Boards. After retirement, Walter and Jenette, produced hay crops and raised Christmas trees. They both enjoyed their vacation home on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. Walter was predeceased by his mother and father, Frank and Rosa Klein, his father-in-law and mother in-law Henry and Stella Conner, his sister Camella and her husband Ivo Regini. He is survived by his wife, Jenette, son John, wife Amy, granddaughter Mari, son Keith, wife Pearl, step daughter Rachel and husband John, his sister Maryann, husband Frank Zanchelli and many nieces and nephews. In respect of COVID-19, there will be no calling hours. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and hospice members at Vassar for their dedicated and caring services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction, NY at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 26, 2021 followed with a burial at the same premises.
