Sondra Weisbaum, of Poughkeepsie NY, passed away on April 30, 2022 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Harold Weisbaum. She is survived by daughters Deborah and Barbara, grandchildren Benjamin, Daniel and Michael, and great grandchildren Isaac, Diya and Jai. Sondra was born in the Bronx in 1932 to parents Morris and Rebecca Tabachnick. She graduated Taft High School in 1947, and was married to Harold, the love of her life, in 1950. They started out in a small apartment on Macombs Road in the Bronx, with subsequent moves to Riverdale and Yorktown Heights. After retirement, they moved to Florida for seven years. When they learned that Deborah was expecting, they moved back to New York, settling in Poughkeepsie to be near her and her family. Sondra worked as a guidance counselor at Walton High School in the Bronx from 1969 to 1985, and as a teacher’s aide at the Solomon Schechter School. Flowing from her love of crafts, including knitting, needlepoint and tapestry, she also contributed her artistic talents to the Women's League for Conservative Judaism. She and Harold also worked as Arts & Crafts counselors at summer camps throughout the Northeast, which enabled the family to have affordable summer vacations in the country for many years. Her other interests included cooking, baking, gardening and reading. She especially loved being a part of the Stonebridge community, of which she was an original member. She also enjoyed attending and organizing the monthly Lunches with the Ladies of Turnberry Court. In nice weather, she would sit outside and relished greeting her neighbors, whom she loved like family. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday May 3 at 1:00 PM at the Temple Beth-El Cemetery on Route 44 in Poughkeepsie. Arrangements are under the direction of the William G.
