Sandra Lee "Sandy" Haight (VanTassell) passed peacefully Friday June 7, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in NJ, after a long illness.

Sandy was born on January 23rd 1954 in Poughkeepsie to Robert Ralph & Loretta Marie (Swartz) VanTassell. She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, and attended Poughkeepsie Schools. She worked for the Culinary Institute of America for many years before retiring in 2013.

There were many things that Sandy enjoyed. Her favorite pastimes were listening to classic country music, shopping, watching soaps, professional wrestling, scary movies and eating pizza. Sandy also loved collecting teddy bears, and spending time with friends and family.

Sandy is survived by the love of her life, Keith L. Wood Sr. of Poughkeepsie. Two Brothers James (Terry) VanTassell of Rhinebeck, Louis VanTassell of Hyde Park. Two Sisters, Mary (Michael) Reese of Rhinebeck. Sally (Paul) Guarino of Connelly. Nine Nieces & Nephews, and many Great Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her Mother & Father. Robert and Loretta VanTassell. And her eldest brother Robert VanTassell Jr.

Calling hours will be on Friday June 14th 4:00-6:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A service will be held at 5:00pm in the funeral home. I had the pleasure of working with Sandy at the Culinary. She was such a beautiful lady. She always was so friendly to everyone she met; always saying good morning or just hello and have a great day. She always saw the good in someone and had a great outlook on life. May she rest in peace.
