Obituary for Patricia A. Myers

Patricia A Myers of the City of Poughkeepsie passed away at home on March 17, 2021 She was born on December 25, 1929 in Honesdale, Pa, the daughter of Patrick & Cecilia Schmidt Doherty. Patricia graduated from Honesdale Catholic High School and continued her education at The Bryn Mawr School of Nursing in Bryn Mawr, PA. graduating in the class of January 1951.

Patricia married the love of her life, Ronald L Myers, on April 7, 1951 at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale PA. Ronald predeceased her on November 3, 2014. They started life together in Honesdale and later moved to Poughkeepsie, NY. She was employed as a Register Nurse at St. Francis Hospital, where she spent many years in her profession. The couple had seven children, of whom they were so proud, Michael & Linda Myers, Verbank, NY; Priscilla & Lindsay Orr, Saugerties, NY; Melissa & Paul Cousins, Falmouth, ME: Susan Myers & Raymond Rodriquez, Mebane, NC; Daniel & Becky Myers, Cary, NC; Denise & Christo Stathatos, Clay, NY; and Patrick & Margaret Myers, Poughkeepsie, NY. Ten grandchildren: William & Kimberly Orr, No. Hollywood, CA; Matthew & Dori Myers, Garnerville, NY, Tyler Whittaker, Falmouth, ME; Steven & Heather Myers, Brooklyn, NY; Sarah & Jason Wertz, Pleasant Valley, NY; Rachel Michos, Honesdale, PA; Jenna & Nicholas Hahn, Nashville, TN; Kaylie Myers, Peekskill, NY; Angela & Dustin Sadlowski, Greensboro, NC; and Colleen & Nicholas Smyth, Mountain Home, ID. Patricia was so proud of all her grandchildren. Five great-grandsons, Isaac, Colin and Nolan, the sons of Sarah and Jason Wertz and Henry and Warren Smyth the sons of Colleen and Nicholas Smyth. She was the oldest of five children, sisters Angela Menotti, Honesdale, PA, Rose Marie & Louis Billard, Leonardtown MD; Deborah Olver, Honesdale, & brother Eugene, who predeceased her. She has many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own. Family was everything to her and she will be greatly missed by all.

Patricia was very active at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Poughkeepsie NY
She was employed, prior to her retirement, by Dr. Morton Alterman. After her retirement Patricia and Ronald split their time between Poughkeepsie and Boca Rotan FL. This is where Patricia attended her first Bon Jovi Concert. Patricia also enjoyed watching sports with her sons and grandsons, baseball and basketball were the favorites. She was a big fan of Allen Iverson (the Answer).

Patricia moved to the Manor at Woodside in August of 2016, this became her extended family. We would like to give a special thanks to Eva, Adriana, Maria, Natalie, Rosario and Rosa for the wonderful care they gave Patricia while residing at the Manor. And also the staff present and past at the Manor. Lastly, we would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for always being there for Patricia and her family.

Visitation is Sunday, March 21, 2021 2-4PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY.
