Obituary for Patricia C. Lynch

Patricia C. Lynch, 90, of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at The Manor at Woodside, where she called home for the past 8 years.
Patricia was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 1, 1930, to the late Walter W. and Terese (Brown) Owen. Her parents moved from Brooklyn to Middle Village, Queens, New York where Patricia grew up amid a multitude of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
On June 12, 1949, she married her college sweetheart, Robert E. Lynch Sr. Robert predeceased her on October 4, 1978.
She attended SUNY New Paltz, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education. She was employed by the Spackenkill Union Free School District, teaching at the Nassau Road Elementary School for 25 years.
Patricia was a founding member of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was an active member of the Marian Guild at St. Francis Hospital, as well as many other groups over the years.
Patricia was an avid reader and she loved dancing, musical entertainment, especially Blue Grass most recently, and traveling. What she loved most was spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her three daughters, Kathleen L. Tunison of Lexington, Kentucky, Susan C. Washburne of Kingston, New York, and Theresa A. Devens (Christopher) of Poughkeepsie, New York. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patricia was predeceased by her two sons, James M. Lynch and Robert E. Lynch, Jr., as well as her nephew, Francis Cashman and niece, Eileen Cashman on July 31, 1962, and her beloved sister Carol O’Flaherty on August 14, 2013.
The family wants to thank Patricia’s devoted health aides, especially Deyci and Eva, who cared for her like a member of their own family.

Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603, immediately prior to a funeral mass on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 10:00am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, New York, 12603.
