In his family life, he was born May 10th as Peter to William and Mary (White) Dobbs in NYC. After the early death of his father, Mary raised Peter, his brother William (Angela) and his sister Maureen (Breheny) with dedicated selfless commitment, flowing with munificent love, imbuing them with fundamental virtues and values. She ensured Peter’s academic advancement via St. Anselm’s Parochial School and Cardinal Hayes HS. His life was elevated with joy by marriage to Gloria E. Donatone, a life partner in love and ministry. His family, by love and blood, was enriched by enjoyable and wondrous brothers and sisters, in-laws, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, godchildren and cousins down four generations: from the Donatones, Matthews, Whites, Corbetts, Guarneras,Tuckers,Pertios in the USA; and Whites, Barrons, and Shortts in Ireland. Delightful – each and every one! His family, by love and affinity, was embellished by friends gathered as flowers from engagement in church, work, and prison vocations. Each and everyone of these family members contributed to making his life a delicious hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top. With love, he wishes Pax et Bonum to each and every one of his remarkable family.
His spiritual life continued as Franciscan Friar David during the 1960s, an experience that fostered character development towards essential life orientation and direction. He continued a life of ministry, supported by bountiful gifts from God, in religious education, homeless shelter, Cursillo and Tres Dias. All leading to involvement in the Residents Encounter Christ prison retreat ministry in several prisons in the mid-Hudson valley. His greatest delight was leading the Prayer Meeting at Green Haven prison for over 40 years.
His professional life was endowed with tremendous opportunities as Senior Software engineer at IBM and Philips/NXP Electronics for 40 years. So blessed to be given challenging, creative projects while engaging laughingly and optimistically in collaboration with colleagues. Also honored to work with wonderful colleagues at H&R Block for over 20 years, leading to volunteering as an AARP Tax Aide and conducting a personal tax ministry at home.
