Obituary for Norma A. Joray
On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Norma, 77, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home with her loving husband by her side.
Norma was born on September 10, 1945 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Ernest H. and Frances L. Frazier Steinbach. She grew up alongside older sister Lynn and younger brother William. After graduating from Poughkeepsie High School, she proudly married Ron in 1965 and they settled down together in the quaint town of Pleasant Valley.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Ronald; their son, Mark and his wife, Christine; daughter, Donele and her husband, David; grandchildren Lauren, Kyra, and Brandon; brother, William and his wife, Susan; nephews, Jeffrey and Billy and nieces, Melissa and Jessica. She was predeceased by her sister: Lynn Morse
Norma lived a life of abundance, filled with travel, family, and her beloved romance novels. She was content living in her dream home, surrounded by memorabilia from her favorite cities across the states, and gifts from her loved ones. Among her many collections, she truly cherished one in particular – her watches, which signified her gratitude for the time she spent with us all.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff associated with Hospice for their continued support throughout these trying times, and their ability to keep Norma comfortable during her last days. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage a donation to Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 in Norma’s honor.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4-8PM. Services are 10AM on Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Friends and family are all welcome.
