Jeannette Cortopassi Stokrocki, 93, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY, where she spent her final days. Previously, she had resided at the Landing of Poughkeepsie for several years. Jeannette was born on July 2, 1927 in Poughkeepsie the daughter of Alice and Ellis Cortopassi. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and Vassar College. Jeannette married her High School sweetheart, Arthur Stokrocki on October 29, 1950, at Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Arthur and Jeannette were together for 63 wonderful years, traveling extensively to Italy, Poland, the Virgin Islands, the US National Parks, and many other destinations. They loved to entertain and Jeannette was a great cook. She was a caring social worker employed for many years by Dutchess County Social Services. She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters Olga, Lillian, Edith and Rose, and her beloved Arthur. Jeannette was blessed with very caring nieces and nephews from the Streck, Bertolozzi, Pedreschi and Occhialino families. She is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins here and in Italy. She will be missed by many who looked to her as their mentor, confidant and loving surrogate parent. Due to the pandemic, funeral services will be private and held at a later date.
