Jean Marie Peshniak was a beautiful and generous soul who passed away on January 1, 2021 at the age of 81 after a battle with Covid-19. Jean was happiest when surrounded by those she loved and treasured every social opportunity, especially going out with Dial-a-Ride. She enjoyed making jewelry, knitting, and crafting in general. She loved butterflies, music, a good steak, and was a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe.
Jean was born in Brooklyn to the late Peter Paul and Hattie (Kaplon) Mikaliunas, but called East Fishkill, NY her home for many years. She is survived by her two granddaughters, April-Rose Roe and Rhiannon Peshniak, April-Rose’s husband, Gary Roe Jr., and her two great grandchildren, Graysen and Nathaniel Roe. Additionally, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jo-Ann Augulis and her husband, Sanford Franklin. Jean is survived by her cousins, Jen and Andy Fremder, in addition to other family members who were loved and cherished. Jean is also survived by her sister, Patricia Biedka, and children, Nicholas Peshniak, JoAnne Peshniak, and John Peshniak. Jean was predeceased by her sister, Irene DiGenova.
Jean was of the Roman Catholic faith and strongly believed in the power of prayer. One of her favorite prayers was the Serenity prayer. A memorial mass will be planned at a future date.
