Ingrid LaPolt, age 78, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away Wednesday, November 2,
2022 at home. Ingrid was born July 23, 1944, in Manhattan, NY. She was the daughter
of Albert and Adele (Pieper) Frommhold. Ingrid was a graduate of Pawling High School,
received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Albany State University and a
Master of Science in Educational Psychology from Marist College. She was remedial
reading teacher in both the Pawling and Hyde Park School Districts, retiring from
Haviland Middle School in 2013. Ingrid was a member of St John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She had been a Girl Scout leader and Sunday
school teacher for many years. She also volunteered at Grace Smith House and
Wilderstein Historic Site.
Ingrid is survived by her brother, Rudolph Frommhold, of Beacon, NY, cousins Linda
Gronlund of Absecon, NJ and Paul Pieper of Denville, NJ; her two children, C. Christian
LaPolt, of Poughkeepsie, NY, her daughter, Lisa Karim, of West Hartford, CT; three
granddaughters, Hannah, Libby and Emmy Karim, all of West Hartford, CT;
goddaughters Mandy Frommhold of Saugerties, NY and Stephanie White of Absecon,
NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ingrid was
predeceased by her infant son, Charles Albert.
The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to Hudson Valley Hospice for
their wonderful care and support during Ingrid’s final days.
