Obituary for Helen H. Fan
On November 11, 2022 at 12:20 p.m., Helen Fan took her final breath at the age of 67.
Helen was born to Wen Kang Wang and Ding Ying Chen in Shanghai, China in 1955. She had a difficult family life as a child, but was happily married to Stephen Fan in 1981, and moved to the US in 1982. In Orlando, Florida, she worked for 34 years at the China Pavilion - Walt Disney World as a buyer, and raised one child, Alice Fan.
She was a devoted wife and mother, with a kind, gentle, and generous spirit. She was highly intelligent, teaching herself English when she first arrived in the US, quickly becoming a fluent speaker. She was also quick with numbers. She succumbed to Alzheimer's disease in her final years.
Helen is survived by her mother and siblings in China; her husband, Stephen Fan; her daughter, Alice Fan; her son-in-law, Ozan Candogan; and her grandson, Maxwell Candogan.
Visitation will be held from 9AM-11AM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wm. G.
