I knew George during our time as members of Dutchess Golf and Country Club. He was fun to be with and we shared many light moments together. He had a serious side as well. He had strong opinions and stated them firmly. But those opinions always came from a sincere caring about the subject at hand. George was a constructive and well-liked member of the club. I was privileged to call him a friend. My condolences on your loss.

By the way, something not mentioned in his obituary - George was the 1981 Mens Golf Champion at Dutchess.

Dr. Spielberger was my dentist for many years. He was an excellent dentist and such a kind man. Always had a smile on his face. Also he was friends with my parents Janet and Mike Beni Tedeschi and my stepfather Donald Jacobson. Sending prayers to his family at this difficult time. Sincerely, Michele Lackaye

I was very fond of Dr. Spielberger and his wife. I have fond memories of spending time with your family many years ago since our parents were close friends. After the passing of my father, Dr. Stewart Cole, my family went to Dr. Spielberger as our dentist. He was a wonderful man. May God bring comfort to his family. Love in Christ, Roberta Cole Fair

Mollee and I felt honored to be able to visit George these past few months. There was a bond that formed and even though I did not get all the details of his life, I did get to learn what was most important to him and why he was held in such high regard. Each week he would compliment Mollee, often giving her a biscuit, talk about his family and his love for your mom. Yes, we talked about his golf, and I would let him brag in his own humble way! He would always tell me how the navy treated him so good. I’d ask him how? He said because the navy gave him Ellie. I would do this every week, knowing what his answer would be. One week he surprised me...said the best thing the navy gave him was “confidence.” I said, “See, you’re lying. The best thing the navy gave you was Ellie.” It took him but a second to come back at me: “I’m not lying. The navy gave me the confidence to ask Ellie out!” Darn, that guy was smart! I guess I am evidence that with everything your dad lost on his path to now, he never lost his ability to impress people with his class and character. It was a privilege to share all those hours with such a person who I like to think became my friend. -Ed Cigna & Mollee, HVHospice
