Dolores Ann Darling, 84, died peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2020. She was born August 8, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Dolores was predeceased by the love of her life, husband George H. Darling, her parents, Anthony and Anna Matuk, and brothers, Anthony and Donald Matuk.
She is survived by her five loving children: son George Darling and Dawn Desmond, son Donald and Justi Darling, daughter Ann Marie and Jim Rhynders, son Stephen and Jodi Darling, daughter Mary Cate Darling and Saira Barrios, and her niece Tammy and Jonathan Bate.
She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Lindsey, James, and Justin Rhynders, Calvin and Casey Darling, Kailey, Anna, Stephen, and Michael Darling, her great granddaughter Leah Kirkpatrick, great nieces Shanyn and Katelyn Bate, great, great niece Jaliyah Fellows and many other nieces, nephews and family members.
Dolores began working as a bookkeeper at St. Francis Hospital in 1952 as a high school senior. Then as a secretary in Poughkeepsie Middle School's Guidance Office until she retired in 1996.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Dolores loved spending time with her friends: meeting for lunch, Friday nights at Friendly's, plays at Vassar College, concerts, playing Bingo, attending events at IBM Country Club, and tailgating at West Point Army football games.
Dolores loved vacationing with her family every summer on the beaches of Cape Cod, MA. She loved being by the water and taking weekend/day trips to state parks, lakes, museums, NYC, and visiting family in CT. She also enjoyed going to the movies and the Dutchess County Fair for 4H shakes, fried mushrooms, and the horticulture exhibits. Dolores loved playing board games, card games, puzzles, and doing arts & crafts with her children and grandchildren. Dolores was also a Cub Scout den mother and 4-H co-leader.
She added special touches to every holiday and gathering for her family and friends: epic Easter egg hunts, Sunday tea and candlelight suppers, 4th of July bbqs, and annual Relay for Life events.
She especially loved visiting and bringing each grandchild a special treat on the morning of every first day of school.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Martin de Porres Church. She volunteered for St. Martin's Religious Education program and at the school during the years her children were students.
Dolores lived life according to what God planned for her. She now lives life in the Glory of God.

I am so sorry to see that Dolores has passed. I've been thinking of her a lot lately. I went to grade school and high school with Dolores. We kept in touch until about a year and a half ago. I know she is with her beloved husband and that God has reserved a special place for her in heaven. Rest in Peace Dolores.
