Catherine “Kay” Wtulich, born January 24, 1924 in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Vasili & Paraskevi Babulas, who were immigrants from Megalopolis, Greece on Peloponnesus Peninsula. departed this life on March 7, 2022.
After graduating high school in Troy, she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II and from there went on to the New York State Department of Labor and Dutchess County Department of Health.
Kay prided herself on being a “people person.” She loved socializing with everyone she met and especially spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the IBM Country Club, where she bowled, golfed, and exercised. She was also a member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center. She was a lifelong member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, Kimisis Ladies Philoptochos Society, and Daughters of Penelope. She volunteered as a baker and cashier for the annual Greek Festivals and she looked forward to watching the children perform in festivals and Sunday services. She loved cooking, crafting, mall walks, and playing Bingo and Rummikub with her friends at The Manor at Woodside. Kay was “the mayor” of all things she was a part of. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will be sorely missed by the Poughkeepsie community. Kay's family was the most important part of her life. She attributed her long, healthy life to good genes and olive oil.
Ralph J. Wtulich, her husband of 62 years, predeceased her in 2015. She is survived by a son and wife: Paul Wtulich & Angela DiGiacomo; daughter & husband: Christine & Michael Racite; and son & wife: Peter C. & Shirley Wtulich.
