Barbara Jean Fritz, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Putnam County Hospital. Barbara greatly influenced the lives of those around her in her roles as loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend and she will be missed dearly. Barbara was born on October 19, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Matthew and Gladys Starzyk. She attended Poughkeepsie High School, where she was an officer of the student government. She owned her own title company, was a real estate investor, and was employed as a legal secretary with various law firms and as an executive assistant at the Anderson School. Barbara lived to care for others and after raising her three children, she helped care for her mother and grandchildren as long as she could. She loved to travel and spent many summers at the family’s vacation home in Wildwood, New Jersey as well as various destinations in Mexico. She was an avid reader, dancer, moviegoer, and music lover. To say Barbara had a zest for life would be an understatement. Despite the many challenges life brought her in her later years, Barbara’s energy and zeal never waned. Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Arthur Fritz. She is survived by her children, Craig, Susan and Devon Fritz, grandchildren Kayla Hansen, Tyler Fritz and Brielle and Alexander Duguid, her identical twin sister, Sandra Digilio, her sister Patricia Dedrick and her nephew Thomas Starzyk. Calling hours will be at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Thursday 1/24/19 from 3-6 pm with a Catholic Mass to follow at St Joseph’s Church on Friday 1/25/18 at 10 am.
